An Outstanding College
The College was inspected by Ofsted in February 2016 and was the first General Further Education or Tertiary College to achieve Outstanding under the new Ofsted Common Inspection Framework introduced in September 2015. This included being graded outstanding for Overall Effectiveness, Leadership and Management, Teaching Learning and Assessment and Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare. Other recent examples of national recognition of the College’s quality include the AoC Beacon Award for Leadership and Governance, in 2016, and the Quality Mark by the National Skills Academy for Health for excellence in teaching and learning in the health sector, in 2015. The quality of the College provision has also resulted in it becoming a Teaching School, a school academy sponsor and a Maths Hub. The College had a very successful QAA Higher Education Review in 2016 which, like the Gold Award for Teaching Excellence just bestowed on it, confirm the high quality of the College’s HE provision.
